Stephen J. Schlegel has wide ranging experience in the trial and appeal of complex property and casualty matters, multistate mass- and class action litigation, and commercial matters dealing with intellectual property rights and trade secrets. Schlegel rose to national prominence in 1983 when he was appointed national lead counsel in In re Agent Orange Products Liability Litigation, the civil class action claims of Vietnam-era veterans seeking damages for exposure to herbicides during their service in Southeast Asia.
Schlegel is admitted to practice in Illinois, New York, and Michigan, and practices frequently in numerous federal district courts and circuit courts of appeal throughout the country. He has also successfully argued matters before the United States Supreme Court. His career has included involvement as a visiting speaker at numerous law school throughout the country, with primary focus on complex class and multistate litigation procedures. He has also been actively involved in the American Illinois, and Chicago Bar Associations and various committees thereof.

Eryk A. Folmer is an Associate at Stephen J. Schlegel Ltd., handling the firm's various complex civil litigation matters, including class action defense, corporate organization and litigation, contractual disputes, estate planning, and personal injury work. Also, Folmer has been instrumental in the firm's appellate practice in various cases before the United States Circuit Courts of Appeal for the Sixth and Seventh Circuits.
Folmer graduated with a J.D. from DePaul University College of Law, where he earned a certificate in Intellectual Property law. At DePaul, Folmer was a member of the Intellectual Property Law Society, as well as the Center for Intellectual Property Law & Information Technology. Also, Folmer was involved with the Technology & Intellectual Property Legal Clinic, and was a chartering member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity.
Before law school, Folmer attended the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in History. A Chicago native, Folmer attended Lane Tech College Prep High School, and remains active in the community through his involvement with the Union League Club of Chicago.

Brett I. Levin is an Associate at Stephen J. Schlegel Ltd., concentrating on all aspects of the firm's civil litigation practice from preliminary investigation, motion practice, and brief writing, to final resolution through settlement and jury trial. Also, Levin is intimately involved in the firm's defense of multi-state class action lawsuits brought under various federal consumer protection statutes.
Levin earned a J.D. from Loyola University Chicago, School of Law, focusing his studies on both multi-jurisdictional practice and procedure, as well as international litigation and arbitration. In addition to earning a certification in International Law and Practice, Levin was involved with Loyola's submission to the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in 2010-2011.
Before his career in law, Levin earned a degree in
International Relations and International Political Economy from the
James Madison College of Political Science at Michigan State University. During his time at James Madison, Levin worked with at the Commonwealth Magistrates' and
Judges' Association in London, an organization dedicated to providing
judges and magistrates in third world common law countries with
the tools and training necessary for the modern administration of justice.
